Warming Sexual Lotions
Warming lotions are products that heat up and are used to create a soothing, sensual body massage. Massages are a great way to relax or rejuvenate yourself and are an exciting form of foreplay for lovers to turn up the heat. There are many types of erotic body lotions available for massages and these include massage oils, massage lotions, warming oils and warming lotions, body dusts, body butters, edible treats, as well as massage candles. Here is a breakdown of each kind to help you choose.
Massage Oils
Massage Oils are oil-based products that contain a vegetable oil base like almond oil. Massage oils are much more slippery than massage lotions and create a longer lasting glide. Massage oils eventually soak into the skin, leaving it soft and subtle, but can also leave an oily residue. Remember, oil-based products should not be used with condoms or sex toy (latex) as they can breakdown and erode the material. Also, massage oils should not be used on the inner part of the female genitals or anus, or internally as a lubricant, as they can cause infection. Massage oils come in scented or aromatherapy, or unscented. Most massage oils are not flavored or meant to be ingested. Always read the label to be clear.
Massage Lotions
Massage lotions and creams are water-based products that are less slippery than massage oils. Many people like these because they are less oily and absorb into the skin better leaving it moisturized. However, they are usually not as long lasting as massage oils and often need to be reapplied. Massage lotions are usually scented and many contain natural botanical ingredients.
Warming Lotions and Oils
Warming lotions and oils are basically the same type of product, and are often water-based, such as Kama Sutra’s Oil of Love. These create a warming effect when rubbed into the skin. Many warming lotions are edible and can be licked off afterwards, so are a great way to spice up oral play in your relationship. Warming lotions should not be used as personal lubricants for penetration unless otherwise noted, as the sugars and or glycerine can cause yeast infections in women.

Body Butters
Body butters are usually hard cakes of massage oils, or thick creams that melt into the skin when applied. They are creamier than lotions and oils, often scented and flavored.
Edible Treats
Edible treats are edible products that are rubbed or painted on the body and then licked away. These include warming lotions, body butters, chocolate body paints and syrups, as well as body dusts. Again, these products should not be used as lubricants for sex.
Body Dusts
While not a lotion or liquid, body dusts are powders that are used for massage. Most are edible, and made out of sugared honey like Kama Sutra’s Body Dust.
Massage Candles
Massage candles are candles that when heated turn into a warming massage oil. These candles have a low melting point and will not burn the skin. Instead they create a relaxing, erotic massage that will delight your senses and sooth your aches and pains. |
